According to Dacher (2006), research shows that having a practice of mental workout that we are able to be of better mind, body, and spirit and where we have flourished our development to be calm, eased, and at peace.
We can set aside time each day to focus on using the techniques introduced over the course in order to keep working out our minds. We can keep on top of them by committing to our selves and our wellness by not giving up on the exercises when they are difficult.

Great post! Do you think that it is better to use relaxation techniques guided by others or methods of meditation that you create yourself? These practices have been a bit hard for me to get into; mostly because I need to follow the voice and instructions to be successful. I am slightly distracted by the directions- it does seem to work better the second time around, so maybe I just need to listen a few times and focus more! The idea of training my mind and increasing my wellness through mental focus is fascinating and exciting! I can’t wait to get to a place in my life where all aspects of my mind, body, and soul can be healthy.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I like to follow along, but as I get the hang of the exercises I can see myself just doing them anywhere and with my own direction. I believe when trying new things, it is good to have a guide. I would encourage you to keep with the guided exercises and when comfortable create your own.

I definitely agree with you when you say the mental workouts require commitment and consistency. I believe consistency is key in making almost anything work to its best potential. In the beginning of this class, I did not have much faith in the different exercises we have had to do. Now, however, I am beginning to see how taking a little time each day to do the exercises can help me alleviate some of the stresses in my life.
ReplyDeleteTiffani,
DeleteLike you, I wasn't sure when we got started, but I am seeing great results when I can focus. It has also been beneficial and maybe even a little easier for me with everything I have been facing because I needed to relieve stress.
I think the exercises are worth putting in the effort, consistency and commitment, because we will feel better when we can reduce stress.

Hi Elicia,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Dacher in the fact that by "working out" our mind we can have a better, mind, body and soul. I don't always find it easy to "workout" my mind or to complete these exercises. But I'm learning how helpful they can be to me and my clients.
How about you? Did you complete the exercise and what did you think about it?
Cindy
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI did complete the exercise, but was having issues posting one complete post without breaking up the post into two postings. Please see my other posting on the results for how my exercise went.
I do think there are good benefits to committing to working on the exercises and if I can see or experience the benefits then I believe others are more willing to try too.
